We strive to keep our community active, involved and happy by providing free community events for the public and monthly/annually activities & fundraisers.

Ice Cream Socials
Each month we visit with our elderly community over ice cream. Ice Cream Socials are our way of making sure we give back to ALL the community, most of the elderly generation are in nursing homes, residential homes, assisted living facilities, and senior housing. Many of them are unable to leave to attend our events, so we bring the event to them. PCHD Ice Cream servers come dressed in accessories to match any respective holidays, or costumes just for fun (it’s a great conversation piece, you know!) Along with the tasty ice cream, residents receive a “fun sheet” that offers a word find and coloring page to enjoy at any time.
On the third full week of each month we serve residents within our coverage area which are Country View Nursing Facility, Moore-Pike Nursing Home, Bowling Green Residential, Bowling Green Housing Authority, Maple-Grove Lodge, Lynn’s Heritage House, Gamma Road Lodge, Tri-County Nursing Home, and Country Side Manor. It is obvious the residents enjoy it, and we are happy to be able to offer some fun socialization to the area’s elderly generation. View our calendar of events to see when the next Ice Cream Socials are happening!
Home Care & Hospice Foundation of Pike County’s Annual Valentine Gala
The Annual Valentine Gala is a fundraiser to assist in raising funds for our Home Care & Hospice Foundation of Pike County. Every February the public enjoys a fabulous prime rib dinner, silent & live auctions, AMAZING desserts, as well as lively entertainment. Since 2011 this formal event has helped raise over $250,000 in donations. This could not be done without the members of our community; whom are as passionate as we are about ensuring the high quality, end of life care that our patients deserve.

Public Health Week Celebration
The first week of April we celebrate national Public Health Week. As your local health department, this is a time for us to showcase our services to the public and offer discounted and even free clinical services.
Back to School Fair
As a member of Pike Community Care Partnership (PCCP) we are active participants in the annual Back to School Fair. This event offers many services and items for children heading back to school. From free backpacks to face painting this event is packed full of informational and edible goodies for all to enjoy. This event provides school supplies, hair cuts, backpacks, vision and dental screenings, and community resources to those children who are in need is made possible.
Annually in August, PCHD helps orchestrate this event that is also funded by community donations.
Drive thru flu clinic
Fall is the time of year when it is recommended for residents of the community to receive their flu shot. We are aware it can be difficult for some to make appointments around their busy working and life schedules to receive their immunization; this is why we make it as easy as driving thru! We set up our mobile clinic in the parking lot next to Bowling Green Walmart, all you need to do is pull up to one of our trained nurses, put your car in park, and toss your arm out your window. We accept most insurances with ease. We will host this clinic at least once a year, sometimes more if the public requests.
School Shot Clinics
With each new school year there are required vaccinations for children. We travel to different area locations to help ease the travel burden on parents who need to get their children vaccinated before the school year begins, and throughout the rest of the year.
Each year in October we host a 5K to help get our community active. Our first few years the theme was a Zombie Run, recently we have highlighted our 5K with the GLOW theme!
Light up the night with us at The Glow Run/Walk 5K, an event designed for people of all ages and athletic abilities. Runners and walkers are welcome to join in for an evening filled with glow sticks and more!

Veteran Appreciation Fair
In 2016 our agency purchased a flag pole to be displayed at the entrance of our building. What better way to honor the first flag raising than in honor of our Veterans? We hosted our first annual Veteran Appreciation Fair and Flag Dedication Ceremony the day before Veterans Day and had a great turn out! The morning began with a ceremony featuring bagpipes, trumpet, color guard, our local VFW, a prayer by our Hospice chaplain, and speech from one of our local veterans. After the ceremony, guests are invited inside for complimentary coffee and breakfast, veteran specific resources, dog tags are made and each guest is given a keepsake photo of themselves seated by the American Flag.
Each year during the holiday season we erect our Giving Tree. This tree is intended for community members to come together and donate to the local food pantry. This tree is on display in our lobby and is usually full of generous non-perishable donations from our employees and the public.
Cookies & Cocoa with Santa
Cookies and Cocoa with Santa is held on the first Saturday in December for all of our community’s children to come and get their picture taken with Santa, enjoy some cookies and chocolate milk, see the live reindeer, and take home a present of your own! This event is free of charge and takes place at our agency. The children of our community get to travel through the festively decorated hallways enjoying crafts, raffles and more as they make their way to the ultimate present… SANTA!
Hospice Memorial Service
Keeping the memories of our loved ones alive through this memorial service is the intention of the annual event. Families who’s loved ones were on our Hospice services are invited to this service to honor the memories of those we have lost. The service is typically held at the Nazarene Church in Bowling Green, guests in attendance will be served cake and punch, our Hospice chaplain will speak, and a memorial slide show will be viewed.
Hospice Thanksgiving Meals
Our patients are offered a “home cooked” thanksgiving meal each November. The meal is prepared and delivered by our Hospice team of nurses, staff, and hospice volunteers.
