Pike County Health Department continues to do case investigation for positive COVID 19 cases. Case investigation is an important public health practice that allows us to monitor and track symptoms and disease progression in our community.
Due to high positive case volume some individuals may not receive a prompt phone call from the health department case investigators. As we move through cases we continue to encourage following the current CDC recommendations of staying home for 5 days from when symptoms started. If after day 5 you are fever-free (without the use of fever-reducing medications) and your symptoms are improving you can leave home with the recommendation of wearing a mask for 5 more days when around others. If you are not feeling better after day 5 stay at home until symptoms improve or consult your doctor.
Close contacts to a positive case are encouraged to stay away from other people for at least 5 days. More specific guidance on the current CDC recommendations on isolation and quarantine can be found online at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html .
