First Aid/CPR Classes

The Pike County Health Department has three certified basic life support instructors through the American Heart Association. The following American Heart Association courses are offered:

American Heart Association Heartsaver® First Aid
Heartsaver First Aid is a class room, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives.

American Heart Association Heartsaver® CPR AED

This classroom course teaches basic CPR skills such as performing a head tilt-chin lift and giving compressions and breaths. The course provides training for anyone who wants to learn basic CPR and obtain a Heartsaver course completion card.

American Heart Association Family & Friends CPR
AHA’s video-based, classroom Family & Friends® CPR Course teaches adult Hands-Only® CPR, adult AED use, child CPR and AED use, and infant CPR. It also teaches how to relieve choking in an adult, child or infant. The course offers training for those who want to learn CPR and do not require a course completion card.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
The BLS for Healthcare Providers - Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
This class is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50
United States. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to and manage
illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. The course covers the Four Steps of Pediatric First Aid and modules in Pediatric First Aid, Child/Infant CPR AED, Adult CPR AED, and Asthma Care Training.
